Evren Başbuğ was born in Ankara in 1981. He was graduated from Middle East Technical University, Faculty of Architecture in 2003. He earned a M.Arch degree from İstanbul Bilgi University, Architectural Design Graduate Program in 2009. Following his graduation, he worked at several nationally renowned offices.
Evren Başbuğ holds a professional record of 44 national / international awards including 4 first prizes, 3 second prizes, 4 third prizes and 9 honorable mentions in national architectural competitions. His projects have been nominated as category finalists at WAF - World Architecture Festival 6 times in total, in 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2018. His project 'Yeşilova Höyük Visitor Center' has been shortlisted for National Architecture Awards two times in 2012 and 2016 for the 'Future Projects' and 'Buildings' categories respectively. In 2013 Evren Başbuğ was one of the finalists of İstanbul Modern / Young Architects Program (YAP).
In 2018 Evren Başbuğ has been awarded National Architecture Award in the 'Buildings / Public Space' category with Bostanlı Footbridge & Sunset Lounge.
Since 2011, for 8 consecutive terms he taught as a part-time studio instructor at Izmir University of Economics. He had also been teaching as a part-time studio instructor at Yaşar University for two terms in 2014-2015 years. He is a founding partner of 'kolokyum.com', an interactive professional platform established in 2008 with the motto 'Open Source Architectural Share'. He is still a member of the Architects’ Professional Committee in İzmir Chamber of Commerce.
Evren Başbuğ continues his professional career in İzmir within his practice 'Studio Evren Başbuğ Architects'. Among his recent notable projects are Yeşilova Höyük Visitor Center and Bostanlı Footbridge & Sunset Lounge.
